Along with the tradition of returning to hometowns, digital activity and device usage outside the campus area have also surged. In response, the UIN Malang Center for Information Technology and Databases (PTIPD) urges all students, lecturers, and educational staff to increase their vigilance against potential cybercrime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on global and national cyber security trends, long holiday moments are often exploited by hackers (<em>hacker<\/em>) to carry out their actions. Increased digital transactions, the use of public wireless networks, and user inattention while on vacation are the main vulnerabilities often exploited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c&quot;Our focus when going home is usually divided between the journey and visiting relatives, so that <em>awareness<\/em> &quot;Confidence regarding the security of personal data and campus digital assets often declines. Therefore, preventive measures are essential before leaving campus,&quot; reads the official PTIPD UIN Malang advisory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure a comfortable holiday without the threat of data leaks, here is a complete guide to &quot;Relaxing Home, Secure Data&quot; that all academics need to implement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Avoid Using Public Wi-Fi for Sensitive Transactions<\/strong> Data shows that attacks <em>Man-in-the-Middle<\/em> (MitM) often occurs in public facilities such as <em>rest area<\/em>, stations, and airports. Hackers can intercept data transmitted over unencrypted public Wi-Fi networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Action:<\/strong> Avoid accessing campus information systems (such as SIAKAD, institutional email) or conducting transactions <em>m-banking<\/em> Use a public Wi-Fi connection. Strong passwords alone are no longer enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Action:<\/strong> Enable the 2FA feature on your campus email (@uin-malang.ac.id), messaging apps like WhatsApp, and social media accounts. Update the Operating System and Applications (Update &amp; Patching)<\/strong> Many cyber security gaps are successfully penetrated because the device uses an old version of the operating system or application that has not been patched (<em>patch<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Action:<\/strong> Before leaving for homecoming, make sure the Windows\/Mac\/Linux OS on your laptop, as well as the applications <em>browser<\/em> and the antivirus has been updated to the latest version.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CSIRT and Infrastructure Team on Full Alert 24\/7<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to providing independent advice, PTIPD UIN Malang also ensures that the security of the campus&#039; servers and networks remains maintained. <em>Computer Security Incident Response Team<\/em> (CSIRT) and the network infrastructure division will continue to monitor (<em>monitoring<\/em>) data traffic and log anomalies proactively for 24 hours during this joint leave period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is done to ensure that access to academic and administrative services remains stable and safe from potential threats. <em>DDoS<\/em>, web hacking attempts, or disruptions <em>malware<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c&quot;The academic community need not worry.
